Zimtbrauner Hautkopf Cortinaire cannelle Cinnamon Webcap Cap 1.5–6cm across, convex then expanded and often umbonate, olive-yellow to olive-buff with reddish-brown tinge at centre, soon bright red-brown to coppery, covered in radiating fibrils. Stem 25–100 x 3–10mm, lemon- to chrome-yellow becoming ringed in tawny fibrous scales below from the veil; cortina yellowish. Flesh lemon- to chrome-yellow tinged olivaceous above the gills. Taste bitter and radishy, smell faintly of radish. Gills deep lemon- to chrome-yellow at first then deep golden to tawny or bright golden-red. Spore print rust. Spores elliptic, almost smooth to minutely roughened, 9.5–8 x 4–5µ. Habitat with conifers and birch. Season autumn. Uncommon. Edibility Suspect – avoid as many Cortinarius contain toxins. Distribution, America and Europe.
